Brooklyn, DC move up after strong home wins
Week 11 featured four wins and one thrilling back-and-forth draw that shook up the league table along with the Power Rankings. Brooklyn returned to spot No. 2 and DC Power moved into the top four for the first time this season.
Both Brooklyn and DC came from behind to earn 2-1 wins last week; it was just the third and fourth time this season that the team to concede first came back to win. Out of the 31 matches, the team that scores first has won 18 matches with the other nine ending in a draw.
The two clubs have also played the most matches thus far at 10, with other teams having as many as three matches in hand. Coming away with the max possible points was huge for Brooklyn and DC as we head into the final weeks of the fall season and the matches played across the league levels out.

Summary |
|
1 | Carolina Ascent FC (4-0-5) Week 11: @ DC |
Last Week: 1 |
Even with the Ascent giving up two leads on Friday, going to the Cotton Bowl to face a tough team like Dallas and come away with a point is no easy task. The more chances the team creates for Jaydah Bedoya and Mia Corbin, the more successful it will be going forward. | 2 | Brooklyn FC (5-3-2) Week 11: vs. SPK |
4 Last Week: 6 |
Talk about a bounce back. Last week saw Brooklyn earn a strong come-from-behind 2-1 win over Tampa Bay before trouncing Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. Its front line somehow became even better by adding Dana Scheriff into the lineup, and Mackenzie Pluck and Samantha Kroeger might be one of the best midfield duos in the league. |
3 | Dallas Trinity FC (2-1-4) Week 11: vs. FTL |
1 Last Week: 4 |
Both of Dallas’ goals from the 2-2 draw against Carolina were results of following up shots and showing tenacity inside the box. With a little more composure in front of goal, the Trinity could’ve given Carolina its first loss and secured a strong hold on third place in the standings.
4 | DC Power FC (2-4-4) Week 11: vs. CAR |
3 Last Week: 7 |
DC has earned seven of nine points in its last three contests with two of those results coming against teams higher on the table. It felt good to see Katie Duong finally be rewarded for her consistently good service into the box, and even better when it’s assisting 17-year-old Allie Flanagan earn a brace in her debut.
5 | Spokane Zephyr FC (2-3-3) Week 11: @ BKN |
3 Last Week: 8 |
Spokane needed a good result at home before going on this upcoming stretch of six road matches. Earning the win over Tampa – without Emina Ekić and with Hope Hisey in goal for the first time this season – was a testament to what this team can do and how they need to perform to close out the fall.
6 | Lexington SC (2-5-2) Week 11: @ TB |
4 Last Week: 2 |
The match against DC did not feature the usual attack-minded Lexington we had been seeing the past few weeks. For the highest-scoring team to be out-shot 11-3 by the lowest-scoring team was a surprise, and it was if Lexington just completely ran out of gas in the second half.
7 | Fort Lauderdale United FC (3-3-1) Week 11: @ DAL |
4 Last Week: 3 |
If Fort Lauderdale went into Sunday’s match thinking it would be the same as the first time it faced Brooklyn, it was poorly mistaken. The team could not get through Brooklyn’s midfield and wasn’t connecting with its strikers with balls over the top. Even Makenna Gottschalk’s eight saves (a league record) couldn’t mitigate the beating.
8 | Tampa Bay Sun FC (2-3-3) Week 11: vs. LEX |
3 Last Week: 5 |
It appears the three weeks off did not do Tampa Bay any good. The team does extremely well at maintaining possession – it averaged nearly 60% in both of last week’s losses – but it struggles with putting itself in scoring situations.
